Five Fall Staples for your Wardrobe
It always feels like the year is flying by when the end of August rolls around. We can’t believe it’s already time to go back to school and before we know it the leaves will be changing and we’ll be welcoming that crisp fall air. We can all agree that when it comes to fashion, fall is the season that definitely is the easiest to dress for. You can layer with different textures, add cute booties, and accessorize with hats. There are so many options to amp up your outfit for fall. Today, we want to focus on the five MUST-HAVE pieces for fall that every women should have in their wardrobe!
Plaid - never say no to plaid for this time of year! Plaid has once again snuck its way into our fall wardrobe and our hearts. Whether it’s a top, dress, or jacket, you can’t go wrong with a core plaid piece in your closet. Plaid comes in many different pattern options - they could be more orderly like gingham or a more traditional plaid with varying horizontal and vertical lines as well as colors. Be sure to keep an eye on our new arrivals for different plaid pieces coming each week. Our number one recommendation for adding plaid to your closet this fall? Pick colors that are warm and neutral in order to layer with the plaid on everything!
Shacket -. They are the ultimate layering piece that can complete any fall outfit. A shacket is a shirt and a jacket combined and can be worn either way. They are (usually) oversized and can add a unique casual texture or pattern to any outfit. They are lightweight enough to wear during the transition phase of early fall. But can also be layered when the temperatures really start to drop. Need to know more? Kenzie is here to give you all the ins and outs of one of our shackets.
Mom-Jeans - It’s no surprise that mom-jeans are on the list because they are definitely on trend this year! We love mom jeans because they are slightly oversized and comfortable while still being flattering. They are high-waisted, straight-leg style giving that loose or slouchy fit through the legs. We have mom jeans in both regular and curvy sizes and are constantly adding more. Looking for ideas on how to style your mom jeans? Graphic Tee’s - this one shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. It’s been a huge trend all year and we plan on keeping it around through the fall. A graphic tee is perfect for making any outfit a little more casual or trendy. They are also perfect layering pieces to have on hand to wear under a shacket or cardigan. Other fun ways to wear them include pairing it with jeans, a floral skirt, or even sizing up to wear with biker shorts. At MSC we have graphic tee’s (curvy and regular) that are designed right in-house by our very own graphic designer, making them unique and exclusive to My Sister's Closet Boutique. You can only get these designs here and our graphic designer carefully creates them with YOU in mind!
Overall/Jumper Dresses - An overall dress just may be the perfect dress for fall. They are extremely versatile, surprisingly comfortable, and can be worn in so many different ways. There is just something that screams fall when you see an overall dress and this year, they are coming in a variety of fall textures (like corduroy) and patterns (like plaid!) There are also so many different types of overall dresses, too. Some feature a knee-length, pencil skirt shape while others have a flowy skirt or tiers. But they all have stolen our hearts, that’s for sure. This fall we are wearing them under shackets, over long sleeves or light sweaters, and paired with booties. Trust us - this trend is one that will be around for a while!
With these five fall pieces in your closet, you’ll look cute and ready for all the fall activities. They will be a great foundation to mix and match all of your other fall basics, cardigans, and patterns with! Bring on pumpkin patches, friday night football, and crips fall evenings!
